Hello, y’all. I’m so happy I finally had time to post another Monday Whispers of Faith. Life has been crazy, but today I found the time.
We are finally coming to the end of our journey through the armor of God from Ephesians 6.
“the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17
When Paul wrote to the Ephesians he wasn’t talking about a long sparkling sword as we might imagine. He was talking about a dagger that would have been used in hand-to-hand combat.
According to Dr. David Jeremiah, Paul wasn’t talking about the Word of God as a whole. He was talking about particular parts and promises of the Bible.
We all know that certain Bible verses bring us comfort and strength.
We need to memorize these verses and hold them close like a dagger. They will be our protection.
Scripture and prayer are the best ways to stand against the devil and other problems we face in this world.
“For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword . . . and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
A sword sounds dangerous, doesn’t it?
A sword is dangerous and so is the Word of God. It attacks lies and deceit. It can destroy addictions, fears, and temptations.
It is very dangerous to all the things that are against God because it can demolish the enemy strongholds.
I don’t know about you but I need to wield the sword of the Spirit every day.
Paul also encourages us to pray. Prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do.
It connects us to the Mighty God.
It’s not likely that any of us will have the opportunity to sit down and talk with an earthly king but we can easily talk to the King above all Kings any time we want to.
That is wonderful and unbelievable! We have been given a great privilege. Let’s not waste it.
I hope you’ve taken a few nuggets from these armor of God blog posts.
