NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION – STOP TRYING TO BE PERFECT.
Can anyone else relate?
I am a perfectionist. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to be perfect – but guess what, I’m still not perfect.
I never will be.
I’ll never be a perfect writer, friend, daughter, or child of God. It’s not going to happen this side of Heaven.
But that’s okay because I am perfect enough for God.
Does that sound uppity to you? Does that sound foolish?
God who has the highest standards in the universe can’t possibly think that Sharon Rene (who messes up a lot) is perfect.
But He does.
Not because I pray a lot or read the Bible daily. That can’t make me perfect before God.
I am wearing the breastplate of righteousness and I am washed in the blood of Jesus.
When God looks at me – He sees His precious Son. He sees Jesus.
“He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (Corinthians 5:21 (NASB))
That is what makes me perfect in God’s eyes.
If you have asked Jesus to forgive you and be your savior YOU are perfect in God’s eyes too.
Jesus is the only way to perfection or salvation.
I make a lot of mistakes in my daily life. Sometimes I won’t try new things or stretch myself because I’m afraid of failure.
I have taken a long break from this blog due to my mother’s health issues. Since I doubt I can manage to post every week I decided to set the blog aside.
With a friend’s encouragement and a nudge from God, I have jumped back into the blog.
Sink or swim.
I can’t promise I will post weekly but I’m going to try. I’d appreciate your prayers for my efforts.
What about you? Is there something in your life you’d like to do – something you feel called to do but you’ve been too afraid?
Afraid you might fail? Afraid you will not be perfect?
Let me encourage you to set your fears to the side and jump in. You will not be perfect – but that’s okay.
If the God of the universe sees you as perfect who else matters?
It’s 2023 and time to follow your dream and claim your destiny.
