FAITH.
What is it???
Faith is putting all your trust in God.
Sounds easy.
Why is it so hard for me to do?
Some people seem to be able to let go easily and trust God to take care of things. They have the beautiful childlike faith talked about in the Bible.
I am not one of those people.
I want to be —- but unfortunately, I’m not gifted with faith.
I have faith in God for salvation of course. I believe He’s taking me to Heaven.
I struggle with the little things in life. That’s when faith fizzles and fear steps in.
- Can I write an entertaining book? Will anyone read it?
- Can I accomplish everything I need to do at work?
- Will I have the needed strength to take care of my aging mom in the best way possible.
I am very OCD and a real control freak. It’s so hard for me to take a hands-off approach with God.
Today, I’d like to discuss some passages from my favorite book about grace and faith.
Grace Works by Tony Sutherland
(I highly recommend this book)
“This is the word of the Lord . . . ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts . . .
And He shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of ‘Grace, Grace to it.'”
(Zechariah 4:6 – NKJV)
Tony points out that God told Zechariah to shout grace twice because sometimes it takes
Grace x 2 to gain the Victory.
God gives us a double portion of grace to face life’s greatest challenges.
As humans, we try to work things out in our own strength. But the author wisely points out that when we put our hands on the situation, we leave no room for God to work.
Faith is having a deep settled assurance that God will do what He says He will do.
This is my biggest failure in faith and trust. I do believe that God can handle everything, but He might need my help – just a little bit.
I must take my hands off of it and let God handle it.
When we work God doesn’t.
When we raise our hands in worship it’s as if we are letting go of the situation and letting God take control.
I need to walk around with my hands up in surrender all the time.
God can do anything.
When we stop striving and allow the grace of God to work, we will witness the miraculous.
When we believe in God’s grace and trust that we are righteous apart from works it crosses into every area of our lives.
We trust God’s word more on every issue.
Relax and trust God at His word and it will produce a deep-down kind of faith that cannot be destroyed by the enemy.
We need to speak the word of God to ourselves
“So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 – NKJV)
Please comment below and let me know what you think about this post and any faith issue.
I’d love the hear from you.
Ahhh, faith can be explained so simply but it’s also infinitely complex! We’re always learning more about it in our walk of faith!
Oh yes, faith is very complex, yet God wants us to have the faith of a child. Not easy. Thanks for commenting.
