Hello and welcome to FAITH FRIDAY!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This has been another crazy, hectic week so I’m posting a devotion I wrote a couple of years ago.
I pray these words touch someone out there.
We all face battles in life. Anger, jealousy, fear, depression.
Depression is one of the toughest enemies to defeat.
Who hasn’t had a day when you’d rather stay in bed and let the world spin out of control without you?
But some of us struggle with a deeper depression. The blues are always lurking, prepared to strike with sharp fangs of despair.
Depression leads me to reach for God’s word in search of the healing only He can provide.
In the book of Isaiah God promises that He will cause us to soar through the golden sky with wings of an eagle.
Most of the time, depressed or not, I feel more like a squawking chicken than a majestic eagle, but I have the ability to soar.
The catch is that I have to turn all my sorrows and fears over to God.
I can’t balance heavy burdens on fragile wings and float on a gentle wind.
God has blessed us with counselors, pastors, and doctors who can help us conquer depression and make beauty out of salty tears. But it takes Jesus’ healing touch to truly turn our ashes into jewels. With His help we will soar indeed.
Meditate on Isaiah 40:30.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” (KJV)
I hope you’ll gather some nugget of truth from this short devotion. Don’t forget to come back next Friday!
