Faith Friday – Scriptures To Live By

Hello everyone and Happy Faith Friday!

YAY, we made it to Friday.  Hope your week has been a good one.

Mine has been productive.  Relentless Rebels is scheduled to launch March 8.  It will be available on Amazon.

Hesitant Heroes was a finalist in the Selah Book Awards, which is pretty cool.

Today I want to share some scriptures with you.  These are some of my favorite verses.

“For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3 NASB)

This encourages me. I tend to think I’m responsible for everything. Let’s face it – I am a control freak.

BUT if I have died and been hidden in Christ I cannot be in control of my salvation.  I can’t be in control of anything.

“For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:1 NASB)

This is another verse that takes the responsibility off of me and places it on God. He works within me to do His will.

He doesn’t expect me to write books, give speeches, or influence tons of people on my own.  He has a unique ministry for me and He must work it out.

“You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalms 32:7 NASB)

We all feel frightened and alone at times.  We can hide in God. He is our hiding place, fortress, and friend.

In Grace Works by Tony Sutherland he writes:

Buddha’s last words before he died were, “Keep striving.”

Jesus’ last words before He died were, “It is finished.”

Boy does that convict me!!!

I strive all the time to be good, do good and please God.  Looks like I’m listening to Buddha.  I want to listen to Jesus.  When He said, “It is finished” He meant “it is finished.”

I cling to those words like a lifeline.

Because of my weaknesses, I’ve always loved 2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”  (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

Even the apostle Paul struggled with weaknesses.  I’m in good company.

“But where sin abounded, Grace did much more abound.”  (Romans 5:20 KJV)

Great news. We don’t have to be perfect!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5 NASB)

I can’t end this post without including my absolute favorite scripture.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (Romans 8:38-39 NIV)

THAT SAYS IT ALL.

I pray these verses have encouraged you.  They inspired me as I typed them.

God’s Word is Powerful.

Please comment below with some of your favorite verses.  I want this blog to be a time of sharing.
